Beginning in late 1977, Numbers quickly joined the ranks of the era's major homoerotic publications, including Honcho, Mandate, and Playguy. During its twenty-seven-year life, the magazine showcased the photographic work of heavyweights such as Roy Dean and Bob Mizer and famous models like Al Parker and Steve Hammond. This particular issue focuses on a cowboy motif, with the second half (see the first half here) featuring the short story "Maverick Roundup" (about a rancher who is saved from a gang rape by a fellow cowboy he has long admired) and several photo shoots - one with numerous models from Colt Studio.
