Male Insider (December 1986), Part Two

Born in Chicago in 1933, Domingo Orejudos, who eventually became artist Etienne, established himself within the Chicago gay community when he and his former partner Chuck Renslow began publishing Mars, Rawhide, and Triumph magazines to showcase Orejudos’ drawings and Renslow’s photography. Over time, the two opened the Barracks Hotel, Gold Coast Leather Bar, Man’s Country Bathhouse, and Triumph Gym and established the International Mr. Leather contest, all of which utilized Orejudos’ artwork for their advertisements, interior décor, and logos. In 1991, at the age of 58, Orejudos passed away due to AIDS. This December 1986 issue of Male Insider (which has been broken into three parts) features a collection of Entienne work. Included in the second third (see the first third here) is the short story “Untold Story” (about a Los Angeles local’s encounter with a southern hitchhiker) and stills from the film No Strings Attached.
