Mandate (December 1994), Part One

In 1988, Canadian director John Greyson released his film Urinal chronicling the arrests and persecutions of gay men caught on surveillance cameras having sex in public restrooms. In this December issue of Mandate (which has been broken into two parts) Greyson gives a promotional interview for his film Zero Patience and discusses many of the difficulties faced while creating and distributing the film, including the reluctance of several gay actors to perform in the movie because they feared it would jeopardize their careers and the resistance from home video distributors to carry his work due to their perception of the film as pornographic. Also contained in the first half of this issue are photospreads titled “Call of the Wild,” “Fantasy Explorer,” and “Love Stud.”
