All Man (July 1987), Part Two

Running from 1987 to 2004, All Man joined the ranks of other homoerotic publications when many of its peers were shifting away from cultural matter and focusing mainly on photo spreads. All Man, in tun, was one of the few who maintained this additional material and the publication’s premiere issue, which has been broken into two parts, showcases this factor. In the second half (see the first half here), an interview with comic book illustrator Howard Cruse is accompanied by a display of Oscar’s artwork, an article about actor Joe Dallesandro’s work with Any Warhol, and spreads titled “Muscle Man,” “Rugged in Red,” and “What’s Smaller than a Bread Box, Bigger than a Hot Dog Bun.”

Torso (July 1992), Part Three

Working for major studios like Colt and Falcon, Brad Phillips starred in seventeen adult films between 1984 and 1992. In addition to his career in pornography, Phillips also made brief appearances in three 1988 episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation (spots he garnered after working as a model for the fitting of the show’s costumes) and the 1993 documentary Sex Is…, during which he laments that his experiences in the realm of homoeroticism often resulted in loneliness. This July issue of Torso, which has been broken into three parts, showcases Phillips at the end of his pornographic career. In the final third (see the second third here), the short story “The Long Wait” (about the narrator’s threesome while his partner is out of town on a business trip) is accompanied by spreads of models Kris Lord and Joey Stefano.
