Male Insider (December 1986), Part Three

Born in Chicago in 1933, Domingo Orejudos, who eventually became artist Etienne, established himself within the Chicago gay community when he and his former partner Chuck Renslow began publishing Mars, Rawhide, and Triumph magazines to showcase Orejudos’ drawings and Renslow’s photography. Over time, the two opened the Barracks Hotel, Gold Coast Leather Bar, Man’s Country Bathhouse, and Triumph Gym and established the International Mr. Leather contest, all of which utilized Orejudos’ artwork for their advertisements, interior decor, and logos. In 1991, at the age of 58, Orejudos passed away due to AIDS. This December 1986 issue of Male Insider (which has been broken into three parts) features a collection of Entienne's work. Included in the final third (see the second third here) are photo spreads of models Rick Donovan and Toby Matson.

Hot Male Review (December 1988), Part Two

Beginning in 1986 and ending in 1999, Hot Male Review was among the many of Casey Klinger’s publications, the ranks of which included Dream, Jock, and Torso. While Jock and Torso experienced relatively long lives, Dream and Hot Male Review did not, with the latter’s demise, despite its re-branding in the early 1990s to a more simplified and trendy abbreviation of HMR, caused primarily by its inability to separate itself from the bevy of other magazines offering the same exact content. This December 1988 issue (which has been broken into two parts) is proof of that, with the second half (see the first half here) offering photo spreads of models Perry Goldburn and Michael Vincent, who appeared in the October 1988 issue of All American Man.
