Inches (May 1993), Part Two

From the boardgames of Danny Orchin to the clothing of Ellen Levine and Skyler Thomas, Joe Gable showcases how gay men and lesbian women have managed to establish themselves as entrepreneurs, creating businesses and products geared toward the community and taking advantage of its lucrative disposable income. Yet, as the author highlights, agencies ran by and serving homosexuals are not immune to scrutiny and face many prejudices: Levine and Thomas, for instance, struggle with certain outlets refusing to sell their merchandise. Gable’s article is one of the few lifestyle pieces found in this May 1993 issue of Inches (which has been broken into two parts), with the second half (see the first half here) devoted to a spread of model Herve Beaudry.
